Dr. Dawda Pouncy, DNP, APRN, FNP-C
Dr. Dawda K. Pouncy, (DNP, APRN, FNP-C) is a Functional Medicine Practitioner and Doctoral prepared Family Nurse Practitioner, known to many as “Dr. Dawda.” She initiated her nursing career at the University of Oklahoma College of Nursing which led her to delivering care for babies as a NICU Registered Nurse in Dallas, Texas. Because of her experiences with the families she encountered while working in the NICU, she decided to focus more on health promotion and prevention targeting the family as a whole.
Dr. Dawda pursued her Masters’ of Science in Nursing with a focus on family care, from Texas Woman’s University. After practicing in various settings including Family Practice, Urgent Care, Wellness Clinics, Aesthetics, Home Health, and Infusion Therapy, she had the urge to expand her knowledge even further to see how she could make a difference from a leadership standpoint.
She then went on to obtain her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Maryville University of St. Louis. To better hone on her desires to investigate and educate her patients about the root cause of their disease, she continues to receive training as a Functional Medicine Practitioner. She is Board Certified with the American Academy of Nurse Practitioner Association, a member of Sigma Theta Tau International, and certified through the American Association of Aesthetic Medicine and Surgery in IV Nutritional Therapy where she received hands-on training.
Dr. Dawda has also appeared in Who’s Who’s for Healthcare providers on an International level. She has served as a Mentor and Preceptor to students from all realms of healthcare. She enjoys her functioning role as an Adjunct Faculty for Chamberlain College of Nursing.
Dr. Dawda has an unquestionable passion to serve her patients above and beyond the ‘standard of care,’ as we know it today. She is uniquely skilled and experienced at addressing the underlying causes of physiological, biochemical, and hormonal imbalances, as they affect the neuromuscular and musculoskeletal imbalances of the body; which are likely affected with patients experiencing chronic diseases, specifically Type II Diabetes and Thyroid Disorders.
Dr. Dawda takes great pride in delivering customized healthcare. She listens closely to your needs and goals, so together as a team, you can accomplish these goals. Needless to say, her personal life and commitment to healthcare is unparalleled.
She enjoys traveling, watching movies, bowling, watersports, singing, fellowship, and spending time with her friends and family.
